Bedford Steam Preservation Society
The
Bedford Steam Engine Preservation Society was formed on
February 27th 1956. Its first steam rally was in 1957 at
Woburn Park where it was very well attended by engines
from all over Bedfordshire and surrounding counties.It
has since then, expanded its activities to accommodate
for today's changing steam engine movement. The Society
stage a rally in the grounds of Shuttleworth House, Old
Warden in Bedfordshire during September each
year.

The
North Staffs and Cheshire Traction Engine Club was
formed in the late 1950's by a group of early
preservation enthusiasts. Since then it has continued to
enjoy a major presence in the movement. It has supported
many individuals in the restoration and rallying of not
only steam engines , but all types of vintage transport.
The club has put on many rallies of its' own at sites
across the Midlands. It now runs two rallies per year at
its' permanent site at Klondyke Mill in Draycott in the
Clay, and members hold steam parties, and attend rallies
across the region throughout the 'steaming season' (from
New Year's day until Boxing day for some members !) The
club has its' own newsletter, and social evenings are
held monthly throughout the winter with a variety of
speakers. Members are encouraged to get involved in club
activities and you will always get a warm welcome at any
of our events.

Traction Engine Club of
Ulster
One of the
foremost vintage clubs in Northern Ireland the Traction
Engine Club of Ulster has been in existence for 40
years. The Club runs a widely renowned two day rally
each July in Ballymena, County Antrim. Members showcase
all sorts of steam engines, vintage and classic
tractors, stationary engines, commercials and cars to an
extremely high standard of restoration. The club
recently purchased a horizontal sawbench and completely
restored this to full working order. As well as the
annual rally the club holds monthly meetings, a tractor
road run and outings to view other collections
throughout Ireland and further afield.

The VHGMC is a national organisation formed in
January 1993 to promote an active interest in the
preservation , exhibiting and operation of vintage
equipment used in horticulture, allotment keeping and
home gardening.
Equipment includes garden hand tools, sprayers,
wheeled hoes and drills, grass keeeping equipment,
hedgecutters, garden rotovators to the larger pedestrian
operated or ride on tractors and crawlers used for
ploughing and cultivating within the horticultural
industry.
Members attend steam rallies, vintage events, garden
shows and ploughing matches where horticultural machines
have their own class. Details of such events are
published in the club magazine "The Cultivator"
which is distributed free to members. As well as
reporting on various events, the magazine includes an
invaluable For sale/wanted section (free to members)
which enables members to source that sought after
component necessary to complete the restoration of a
prized machine.
Remember - to join our friendly club you do not have
to own any equipment - just have an interest in what we
are doing.
